And once again, how great was Kirby/Sinnott? Geez.

No one made Kirby more Kirby than Sinnott. No one. In 100 years this will be the stuff people still look at. People say the writing killed Kirby's 70s stuff on the stands- I disagree. Kids may not know the finer points of inking but they know what ugly, weird and clumsy looks like.

Weird, but I'm of the school that thinks certain Kirby characters loked best under specific inkers. FF never looked better than when Sinnott inked it, but Giacoia on Cap (TOS) and (wait for it) Coletta on Thor gave those books a unique identity. Giacoia is my all time favorite Kirby Cap inker. Of course, next to Sinnott he's my favorite inker ever.

Well put, Joe. I loved Giacoia's inks on the 70s Cap and remembered being really disappointed when he quit. I didn't really understand why then, but it's clear as a bell today. Roy Thomas told me sales tanked when he left so I guess I wasn't alone. Same way sales tanked when Colletta was fired from the Fourth World, though I don't think he and Jack were clicking by that point.
