The Spectre in The Parchment of Power Perilous by Steve Skeates, Jerry Grandenetti, and Murphy Anderson.

In response to a couple of requests for some Jerry Grandenetti, here's a wee offering from The Spectre # 8.

Great one Joe -- much appreciated.

I love the Spectre, but every time I go to another page, a pop up dialog appears saying "a vote has already been cast from this IP address" and cites www.dandy.com. What's up? It only happens on your site.

Blimey Joe, top work mate --Grandenetti is just the business --I confess,I used to consider his work clumsy, heavy handed and not very interesting. Now, I realise what a f___ng ingoramus I must have been to think such things ! Grandennetti is the guvnor !

I also keep getting a 'vote cast' frame when I open your page Joe.

yeah, about that vote cast thing, guys: don't panic, it's nothing untoward or harmful, and it'll be gone by Sunday morning. can't really tell you much more than that. well, I could, but then I'd have to kill you. if you want more details, you'll have to message me.

Ye', well, just so long as it's some scam for the blog - and not us unwittingly voting for you in the Mr. Loveable Buns (Best Baby Oil Division) Contest!

p.s.

And speaking of 'bottoms' - I was scrolling up from that direction when I hit this posting.

Bli'me, I thought, I didn't realise Kelley Jones was so influenced by Mike Sekowsky - or did he actually work with him? Wow!

Of course, it turned out to be Grandenetti, but a more disciplined Grandenetti, somehow, less splotchy and blotchy, less almost lazily rushed and chaotic looking, if you know what I mean.

Gosh, don't know how I missed this post! Absolutely incredible! Thank you, Joe! How Grandenetti's name is not mentioned among the greats is stunning to me. Like our beloved Frank Robbins, he is an absolute original and much better than the cookie-cutter wanna-be's who get the spotlight. And like Frank Robbins, his day is gonna come!

so, what are you trying to say, borky, man? are you saying that I DON'T have the best baby-oiled buns? is THAT what you're telling me?

& I know exactly what you mean, mate, but I'm guessing that's what happens when they get Murphy Anderson to do yer inks for you.

John: right on, brother!

GnosticMind says -- Joe, these are just great -- I was uninterested in Grandenetti for years, and often skipped these stories when I was a kid in the 70's,but now...he is amazing. Do you have any more of these? I have read how he was such an influence on the Pop art movement, but of course went un acknowledged for it, out side the comics world.

Could I also request more Rubeny Yandoc frames too if you have any?

All my thanks !

Gnostic.

PS Joe, have you read the soon to be released Ghosts DC Showcase yet? Any word on it?

there'll be plenty Reuben Yandoc to come, Gnostic'.

I haven't seen the Ghosts Showcase, mate, but, from what I remember of Ghosts, which, admittedly, isn't a lot, if you like DC mystery stuff, it'll be worth getting.
