I may be starting to warm to that crazy-ass recolouring on these pages.
I'd like to think that there is a civic welcome sign at the gates of Asgard - "Welcome to Asgard - Home of the Mighty Norse Gods (TM)!" and then symbols for the local Elks Club and Rotary.
Are these re-coloured versions from the new omnibus??
I agree -- seeing only a few scattered panels I was really skeptical about buying the new collection (incidentally, it ships in paperback very soon). However, with all of these pages in one place I am re-evaluating.
Thanks for letting us see all of these!
Best,
Doug
Matt, maybe they could have a "twinned with Tower Hamlets" sign, too?
and these ARE the re-coloured pages, Marcelo. like Mark & Doug, I wasn't too sure about the fancying them up, at first, but I really rather like them, now.
& Doug? they're releasing it in paperback, soon? oh, I am SO there!
Or, as Loki never said "How'dyu like THEM golden apples?!"
I actually kind of like the color too.
Personally, a "BLEAH!" colouring.
I mean, is a good colouring, but too much "covering" the drawings, and disrespectful of them. It's like trying to apply a 3-D effect to Caravaggio!!!
Horrible colouring.
danieletomasi & Joe, I hear what you're saying, guys, and if I had my way, all gold/silver/bronze age reprint collections would be reproduced directly from the printed page of the comic, but, sadly, we live in glossy times, and this is the way it is. sacriligious though the colouring may seem, I'm cool enough with it.
I prefer to spend some more money buying "Good" or "Poor" original comics - but even "Verygood" are affordable - instead of these recoloured reprints. All I need is a little amount of patience to surf eBay.
Oops, a correction: "Good" and "Very good" are affordable, even "Fine" and sometimes even "VeryFine". "Poor" is suggested just for GoldenAge. My collection of Kamani, just to name one, is F/VF, bought in eBay. Sure, the paper of those years is not so good ^__^
da fug!? They used the "blur" and "shiny" tools to obscure Kirby's lines
