Dude. Keen beyond words. I don't know why, but the G.I. Shmoe story was always one of my favorites when I was a kid. I had a couple of tattered Mad paperbacks and this was included in one. Many thanks.
As an aside, dude, mate, geezer, brah, and so forth. Lately, around here at least, I've heard "boss". The other day some random guy greeted me with "What's up, boss?", turned to my son and added "What's up, little boss?"

and "Boss" is usually reserved for figures of dubious authority ( police officers, prison guards, and the like ).
